Kyriakos Sgouropoulos studied at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Democritus University of Thrace (2002 first degree, 2005 master thesis, 2014 phd thesis, titled: Development of techniques for vision based hand gesture recognition). Until 2016, he taught computer science/informatics at elementary and secondary level. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Department of History and Ethnology of the Democritus University of Thrace. He has taught at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education and at the National Centre for Public Administration. His research interests focus on pattern recognition, human computer interaction and the application of computers in humanities. In addition, during his participation in research projects, he is occupied with web development and mobile applications.
