Modern and Contemporary History of Southeastern Europe

Eleonora Naxidou is Professor of Modern and Contemporary History of
Southeastern Europe in the Department of Humanities, School of Humanities at
Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. Her research focuses on the Balkans, with
particular interests in nationalism, national movements, church and national identity,
Bulgarian history and historiography, and ethnic minorities. She is the author of the
book Europeanness in the Context of Bulgarian ‘Balkaness’: Lyuben Karavelov,
Federalism, and the Greeks (Athens: Alexandreia, 2021, in Greek), and co-editor of
several scholarly volumes. Her work has been published in leading academic journals
in her field.
