Social Psychology

Efthymios Lampridis was born in Serres in 1974. He graduated from the 1st High School of Serres and studied Psychology in the Department of Philosophy, Education, and Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Ioannina, as well as in the Department of Psychology at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.
He continued his postgraduate studies in the Department of Psychology at the University of Kent in the UK. He specialized in Social and Applied Psychology, with emphasis on group processes and intergroup relations.
He completed his doctoral dissertation in Social Psychology of Interpersonal Relations at the University of Ioannina and subsequently carried out postdoctoral research at the same university in the field of Applied Social Psychology.

From 2003 to 2007, he taught Social Psychology and Research Methodology in the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy, Education, and Psychology at the University of Ioannina. From 2008 to 2011, he taught Social Psychology at the Department of Special Education and the Department of Primary Education at the University of Thessaly. In 2009, he taught Social Psychology and Child and Adolescent Psychology at the Department of History and Ethnology of Democritus University of Thrace.

In 2012, he began his academic career in the Department of History and Ethnology at D.U.Th. as an Assistant Professor of Social Psychology. In 2024, he was elected Full Professor in the same field.

At the postgraduate level, since 2015 he has been teaching at the Hellenic Open University in the Master’s programs “Educational Sciences” and “Applied Developmental Psychology.” He has also been invited as a guest Professor in postgraduate programs in Psychology (Department of Psychology, Panteion University) and Cyberpsychology (Department of Psychology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens). He has supervised dozens of Master’s theses, is a PhD supervisor, and has participated in numerous committees for the evaluation of Master’s and PhD dissertations.

In terms of research, he has participated in a series of research projects over the past two decades. He has twenty years of experience in designing and implementing intervention projects targeting socially excluded groups. From 2020 to 2023, he was the scientific coordinator of an intervention project addressing school dropout among Roma students in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. His involvement in intervention projects with Roma populations extends over two decades.

He has been a Visiting Professor at Bielefeld University (Germany) and at the Cyprus University of Technology.

He has published a research monograph on social identity and social representations and has authored a series of papers in international scientific journals (indicatively: Social Psychology, Group Processes and Intergroup Relations, International Journal of Adolescence and Youth, International Journal of Conflict and Violence, Journal of Beliefs and Values, Universal Journal of Educational Research, International Journal of MS Care) as well as in Greek journals (Psychology, Hellenic Journal of Psychology, Tetradia Psychiatrikis). He has served as guest editor for Psychology and Hellenic Journal of Psychology (2 issues). He is a reviewer for Greek and international scientific journals, a member of scientific societies in Greece and abroad, and was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Psychological Society from 2011 to 2013. He has organized scientific conferences and symposia, served on organizing and scientific committees of national conferences, and was president of the 1st National Conference of Crosscultural Psychology and the 1st National Conference of Media and Technology Psychology.

His current research interests focus on the study of close interpersonal relationships in both real and digital contexts, intergroup phenomena, relations and processes, prosocial behavior, and the applications of social psychology in education.

He is the father of two children, Panagiotis and Eliza.
