IOANNIS KIORIDIS (Serres, 1966) has been a member of the Department of Humanities at Democritus University of Thrace since 2023. He holds a PhD in Spanish Philology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2009, with distinction). He has been working also at Hellenic Open University since 2010, where he teaches Spanish Literature, History, and Culture. He has also taught at the Department of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Belgrade and at the Department of Spanish Philology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His academic interests include the translation of Castilian and Catalan literary texts, comparative medieval literature, Castilian and Byzantine epics, Greek folk songs, Spanish romances, and Serbian heroic ballads. He has published around sixty articles and contributions in scientific journals, conference proceedings, and collective volumes. His most notable works as an author and translator include: the translation of the Catalan Chronicle of Ramon Muntaner, a bilingual edition published in 2016 in collaboration with professors from the University of Valencia, and the translation of El Cid, in collaboration with Stergios Dertsas and Alberto Montaner (2019).
