Krimpas Panagiotis

Panagiotis G. Krimpas (Panagiotis G. Krimpas, Panagiotīs G. Krimpas, Panajotis G. Krimpas, Панайотис Г. Кримпас, Панайотiс Г. Кримпас, Панайотiс Г. Крiмпас), with researcher identification numbers ORCID: 0000-0001-7271-9653, PUBLONS: AAN-5562-2021 and Scopus Author ID: 57193416565, is Professor (Official Gazette Issue n. 2639/Γ/17 July 2025) at the Department of Human Studies of the Democritus University of Thrace (field: “Terminology, Translation and Legal Texts”). He has also given post-graduate and graduate invited and/or contracted lectures at various Universities in Greece, Cyprus, Estonia, Croatia, Romania, Albania, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Turkey. He has participated in more than 70 international academic conferences and workshops in Greece, Estonia, Slovakia, Croatia, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, UK, USA and Uzbekistan and has published, in Greek, French, Spanish, Italian, Estonian, Russian and Ukrainian, more than 100 individual or joint works (books, chapters, articles, papers; see more in https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Panagiotis_Krimpas), cited in about 500 (as of September 2025) works in Greece and abroad (for Scopus-indexed publications https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=57193416565). He has participated as a research fellow in or adviser to funded international and national research programmes and has supervised, co-supervised or examined many doctoral theses in various universities of Greece. Moreover, he has been member to various academic boards and organising committees of international conferences, as well as member to journal academic boards.
He holds a bachelor’s and a doctor’s degree from the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece (BA, LLD) as well as a Master’s degree from the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the ‘Pompeu Fabra’ University in Barcelona, Spain (MA). He knows many modern European languages. His research interests include LSP, dialectology, translation (legal, technical, scientific and literary), historical linguistics, etymology, Indo-European linguistics, Romance linguistics, Balkan and Slavic linguistics, geo-linguistics etc.
He is a founding and BoD member of the Hellenic Association for Translation Studies (EME), advisory member of the Panhellenic Association of Translators (PEM), deputy secretary general and vice-chair of the general scientific council of the Hellenic Society for Terminology (ELETO), a regular member of the Societas Linguistica Europaea (SLE), of the Réseau Panlatin de Terminologie (REALITER), of the Hellenic Union of Heptanesians (ΕΕΕ), and other linguistic and cultural societies. He has experience of special adviser to and/or collaborator of political institutions (2013–2025), lawyer (2001–2013) and translator of legal, technical and scientific texts (1998–2013). His leisure activities include music (composition, singing, piano, guitar, mandolin) and creative writing (poetry and micronovels).
